International Student with VERY UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

Hi

So I've always been pretty wary of such "Chance me" threads but I feel I'm at the point where I need the people at CC to help me out.

I have a spotty academic history. See... my family moves a lot. A LOT. Like, when we're not moving, we're either planning to move or wondering why we haven't moved yet.

I've spent so much time in Airports/Airplanes that I consider them my third home.
Recently, my family decided to uproot and go to Singapore, where I spent the vast majority of my childhood.
Singapore is lovely and it's my childhood home and all but it's really crowded. The schools here don't let any internationals in after a certain deadline (which we missed). So I'm doing A levels privately and I've taken up a few AP courses online.

MY GLORIOUS ACADEMIC CONQUESTS:

GCE O levels: 6A*s, 1 A, 1B (in Urdu). This was actually the best result in my (admittedly unimpressive) school.

AS levels: Didn't take (was on a plane to another country at that time)

My Senior Year Schedule:

AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Statistics, AP English Lit. (My grades are all high A's so far)
A level Economics, General Paper, History, Math (Since I'm doing these privately, I don't have any grades to show. At least until August 2013.)

My SAT score was : 2020
720 CR,
680 M,
620 W. (In my defense, I'm a very slow writer)

I'm gonna take the SAT II's in November for Chemistry, Biology and Lit. and I'm pretty sure I'll do fine in Chem and Bio (730+). Less sure about Lit because it's uber subjective but we'll see.

Extra Curricular Activities

Organized and Hosted a bunch (no, seriously, a BUNCH) of School Events/Festivals/Seminars/Concerts..... This is my most significant EC. I've spend hours upon hours doing this and I've done this for pretty much my entire high school career.

Wrote an award winning speech that one time. And I participated in an International Transparency Speech Festival once.

Organized a Benefit concert for the Flood Victims in 2010.

President/Vice President of the English Society/General Knowledge Club.
Head Girl
Deputy Captain of Yellow House

Computer Programming Enthusiast (as in: I'm very enthusiastic, but I'm not very good). But I designed a search engine and I programmed a bunch of games with a lot of help from the internet.

Um... Is that it? Am I missing something?

Right. So I want to apply to these schools for sure:

Smith College
Mount Holyoke College

I'm having trouble figuring out where else to apply so if you guys could please...
Chance me for:

Barnard College
Wellesley
Bryn Mawr
Stanford (Why yes! I AM delusional. How did you guess?)
Brown (see above)
Okay, what the heck. Chance me for the whole Ivy league. If we're going to do this, might as well do it in one go.

Washington and Lee
Gettysburg
Lafayette
Kenyon
Any of the Top 20 LAC's.

Really, if you can think of any school in the entire US that I could be a good fit for, go ahead and let me know.

We can only pay $12000 max so I will need some aid.

Hello…? Anybody?

You won’t get into most of the schools on your list with your scores, unfortunately. I wouldn’t bother with the Ivies or other top-20 schools. You might be competitive at Gettysburg, Kenyon, and Lafayette. Also, I might be wrong, but I believe financial aid is less available for international students.

You need to broaden your search. Try the search tool on this forum to find better matches with your credentials. There are many great colleges that would find you a desirable candidate, but they are not in the tier you are focusing on right now.

I am aware that it’s a long shot but I have a pretty solid safety right now that I’m psyched to attend (U of Alabama) so I just need a few matches and a few reaches to round out this whole application thing.

^Good plan. Alabama is a great school with a growing reputation. You could look into the honors program if you have the stats for it. Good luck.
