Hi can anyone give me a feel for my chances at colleges such as Penn, Brown, Duke, Georgetown ie not Princeton , Harvard , Yale with scores of 700 reading, 700 maths, 670 writing that came through today. Looking at these scores I’m low end of Medians to just outside. I’m an international student, male, likely to major in languages, music or something like psychology. My big thing to offer is I am a very good musician and singer so will be doing an arts supplement, sorry to sound boastful but that’s what I’d stand out for. What are my chances am I aiming too high or would something like my music compensate for slightly less than brilliant scores I was hoping for?. Should I retake again in October when I have exams and music commitments? Thanks.
Your chances are not looking that good. You hadn’t mentioned SAT scores and your GPA. Also there are numerous talented musicians who will apply so you’re that unique.
Hi sorry I did put my SAT scores in. In the UK we don’t have GPA scores but I’m top 5%at a very competitive school. I think you meant to say I’m not that unique with my music, not sure how you make that judgement without knowing what level or instrument I play. I’m an oboe and cor Anglais player diploma standard. But thanks for letting me know it’s a tall order that’s what I thought.
