International students already at or applying to MIT: see here

Hi people

I just would like to know whether there is any one outside USA/Canada applying to MIT this year.

Plus, I would be grateful if any one of you international students who made it to MIT can share some of your experience on how you did your application essays.

For my part, I am Taiwanese applying to MIT this year from the Netherlands. :)

Just post here your national identity and your location. :) cheers

Hey, I'm an international applicant applying to MIT - scary stats, aren't they? So are you applying to any other American schools?

but hey, Star*, you haven't posted your national identity and your location.....

Hey, am from India and have applied to MIT... That is, sent Part I already...

Hi! I apply to MIT, too. I am from Romania. And be sure there are at least 20-30 Romanian students applying to MIT every year.

Wow... that's quite a lot of people applying noting that Romania is a small country. :) Does that make it easier to get into MIT or not?
How many people are admitted to MIT from Romania each year? Is it easier to get into MIT from Romania?

There are currently 7 undergraduates at MIT from Romania.

The full list of countries and states of origin of MIT students can be found here.

lol, I know that.

But that doesn't reveal the number of international applicants by geography but simply the number of undergraduates composed of not only freshmen. :)

Well, I would assume that somewhere in the vicinity of two students are admitted from Romania each year.

Details about number of applicants from specific geographical areas has not been released in past years by the Admisisons Office.

I'm from Zagreb, Croatia. I haven't met anyone else from Croatia who'll be applying this year...

Hey! I am from Mexico and I'm applying to MIT this year.

I am from Mongolia and studying in America and applying to MIT.
By the way I have a question. Do you guys know if MIT see international applicants in America differently than international students from other countries?

ulziibayar: In my opinion, yes. Of course since you come from Mongolia, you’re different from those who “come from” the US; similarly, since you study in the US, you’re different from those who study in other countries. Let’s say it this way: you’re a Mongolian student studying in the US, and that’s your particular case :D

I think they expect to see how far you’ve gone in your condition, how much you’ve struggled and whether you’re passionate or not, etc.

From Hong Kong
Holding Canadian nationality (which I am not going to use) and Hong Kong nationality (I am using this one to apply)
