International students at Cornell

I would like to make this thread just to know haw many international students attend Cornell University since I was considering applying here till I found out they give financil aid to a very small percentage of their international applicants. Considering I very much depend on the fin aid that will be given to me(I come from a low-income family - aporx. 5000$/year) I would also want to ask....is it worth applying or I should know that there isn't any chance for me in receiving the money I need?

Sorry bro, if you need money I don't think Cornell is going to help you out much. They give out very little, and when it comes to internationals, most of the int'l student body consists of those heavy-hitting curve busters from china, india, singapore, so on. A lot of international students attend cornell, but when they say "international", they might as well just say "asian." I only know a few international student from all of Europe, compared to dozens from asia. So the long and short of it is, lots of internationals, yes, lots of europeans, no, and i dont forsee any help in the finanacial department. It sucks, we could use more eastern Europeans...

i think Northwestern has good financial aid for internationals, they seem to have a lot.

well then....thanks for your help....I'm trying to put down my "where to apply" list so I have to cross out the one's that don't correspond with my profile..thanks again.

Actually collegekid, until recently, Northwestern did not give aid to internationals whatsoever. They started last year I believe, and they aren't really know for it.

I would say MIT, Princeton and several LACs are probably best at giving aid to international students.

well I do have them on my list....but being an international student requires you to have a loneger list....just in case you'll need it....and most probably you will.....so....thanks for your help!

well when I go to Cornell next year, I expect to see a lot of asians coming to Cornell for the engineering program.
