I'm from NZ, and I am not 100% set on Yale yet, so I am hoping that the preview weekend will help me decide for sure. My friend told me that Princeton will pay for my ticket to the preview weekend: does anyone know if Yale does that too? I have been offered a pretty heavy financial aid package, so anyone who is getting almost 100% covered, do you know anything about this?

Thanks guys!

And congratulations to all my fellow 2014 admits!

I’ve raised the same query to my admissions officer and a few other people in admissions/financial aid - the response was:

“Unfortunately, we aren’t able to offer financial assistance for international students traveling to BDDs at this point – we had to pull in the budget somewhere and this was one area we had to sacrifice since the expenditures had the potential of being quite large.”

Which is completely fair enough, and quite understandable.

I hope this news doesn’t make Yale seem ungenerous or unkind - because they most certainly are incredibly generous and kind. Their financial aid package was absolutely mind-boggling in its generosity and I fully appreciate all that Yale’s financial aid office does. :)

And who knows, I think things like this are very much done on a case-by-case basis. Get in contact with bulldogs@yale.edu or your admissions officer Victor.

Thanks everyone! you guys have been really informative! I have emailed them, so all I have to do it wait. I also checked out the admit forum online, and have found that Yale will email people whom they will give travelling funds to. Guess I have to wait and see!

one of my friends (who lives in CT??) is getting costs covered to go to bull dog days…maybe it’s b/c they know it couldn’t possibly cost them too much??
