international student's chances?

I'm really anxious so I'd love some feedback asap :)

My sister's friend who got 19?0 got accepted by UVA last year and she was an international student as well, so I'm wondering if I can make it. I'm really into UVA, it seems wonderful for business.

Here are details about me which will help you assess my chances:

I was born in India but I've been living in Singapore for the past 15 years

I'm currently studying in an Indian international school

I intend to major in Business Management or Marketing

Not applying for any kind of financial aid

My teachers and counselor will give me great recommendations

ACADEMICS:
- SATs: 2010 (CR/M/W = 700/660/650)
- SAT II: Lit 600, Math Level 1 620 (I'm definitely not the brightest when it comes to SATs)
- Scored 90% overall for 10th Grade board exams
- I'm ranked first in my entire class for 11th grade and also 12th grade mid-years
- I think the teachers are predicting a 90%+ for my 12th Grade board exams
- I have subject proficiencies in all my subjects... Eng, Lit, Accountancy, Commerce, Econs, BStudies, Environmental Education, French
- I'm taking a course/degree outside of school. I'm pursuing the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and I have cleared papers 1, 2, 3 and 4 with 86%, 90%, 76% and 84% respectively.

I probably haven't listed everything, but these are the important things.

Thanks in advance!

Bunny  you’re in

Are you applying for business because admission to the business program at UVA is quite competitive .

If yes, then i would say your chances are on par or just above the rest of the crowd.
Your SAT is slightly below the comfort zone, but your leadership positions and EC’s would make up for that. Your rank is also quite strong. I can’t comment on your GPA cause i am not familiar with the Indian system, despite being Indian myself (CBSE, ICSE…all jibberish to me)

And when u say u have ‘proficiencies’ in all ur subjects, what do u mean? Does that mean you are just average at those subjects?

On the whole i would say that UVA would be a match/slight reach for you.

^^ thanks dartmouther :P

siddharth, yeah, I’m applying for business management. I think my GPA would be 4.0 or something, but I’m not sure either. But 90%+ is considered really good in my system.

Proficiences mean i’ve gotten the highest in the subject :)

Hey I’m not dartmouther any longer; I’m deferredmouther now lol

Sidd: you don’t apply to the business school as a first year. Once you get accepted into UVA, you have to apply to the business school at the end of your second year. So admissions is based on CLAS.

Things look good for you. Being from the Indian International School helps from diversity standpoint as I don’t know any Singapore-based applicants from that school. The SATs might work against you though, as Singaporeans have notoriously high SATs.
