International Students

Instead of the safeties suggested by me (utaustin, virginiatech), if i consider Purdue to be my safety, i can use that extra space for North Western (even though its impossible, bit worth a try). Do u think i should do that?

Don't worry about Choueifat. You get all your stuff ready and had Choueifat start the process for your school recommendations, starting with Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue and Illinois.

I would choose Virginia Tech as your absolute safety. Texas A&M is excellent, but only 3% of the students are out of state, so you can bet it is actually more like a match for out-of-state students.

Thanks, should i apply online to wisconsin cause theyre supposed to mail me the application, and do u think its better to apply online because i dont know when my sat scores will reach their destinations when i go for score reporting.
BTW, do universities accept rush reporting?

Applying online cannot hurt you. It is as good as applying on paper. You can also apply to Michigan online. Actually, you can do that and have Coueifat send in your recommendations independently.

As for rushing scores, I know Michigan does not allow it. I am not sure about other schools.

about wisconsin.................

i think it will take some time for me to recieve the application by mail

yes alexandre, I am still the Wharton guy lol. But Michigan is awesome. And the fact that Michigan loves our school and we have a 72% acceptane rate out of state makes it oh so much better. :). Hope you are doing well. good luck jarule.

just something to look through, from a forum in singapore

Greetings From Dubai Choueifat. I Need To Leave This Place Asap

You can download the Wisconsin application from http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/images/UW-Madison_Application_2006-07.pdf

However, I'd recommend applying online. I can assure you from experience that the Wisconsin online process is quite user-friendly.

If you are interested in Chem Engineering, Wisconsin ranks in the top 5 for the past 30 years.

Sorry for reviving such an old thread. But,

Is Michigan really as hard to get into as Cornell, for engineering? I Mean the acceptance rate for Michigan in general is about 50%. Please elaborate. Thanks

Depends, are you OOS?

itsmylife, 5 years ago, WHEN THIS THREAD WAS ACTIVE, Michigan Engineering and Cornell Engineering were roughly equally hard to get into. Today, I would say Michigan Engineering is easier to get into because Cornell has become more seletivel.

Interesting. How things can change so much in so little time. What would you say the acceptance rate for internationals at the two engineering schools would be?

hi guys! not really getting much help in the other threads so was hoping i could get some here haha.

basically im from singapore and im thinking of umich mech engine in the upcoming app! although im looking to go there only in 2012 due to my military commitment. so i was wondering if you all could tell me hows michigan like as well as what are they looking for in applicants!

Perhaps you should first inquire if Michigan would allow you to defer your admission a year for your military commitment.
