I have come across a lot of issues and concerns of International students( from my own place and other place around too)
So i think we needa discuss those issues and concerns over here...

Btw, I am accepted for the fall 2010…
and am in the process of reviewing my financial aid cuz i have to pay 31k and that’s too much for an international student as all of us know…
Anyone accepted with the same thing around?

What issues have you come across?

^^ I have met around 6-7 peoples from my country who have been accepted to Depauw…but as they need a significant amount of aid, they are not able to attend the school.
If it were somewhere around 10k -15k then the ppl would have paid and attended ,but the aid is so low that it makes difficult to attend the session.
I don’t know why Depauw had been so hesitant to provide the aid this year…
There are a lot of good students who would love to attend the university but this only thing left them behind…:(

How does Depauw calculate the amount of scholarships and aid given to a student???

Maybe they are having fin issues… I read something about Olin (or another school like that) having such problems and so they would not be able to give full scholarship to international students, which is sth they always did…!
I dunno if that is the case, but hey… Sounds likely, right?

Yes, even I’ve heard that DePauw is having financial issues. Its still a stretch with the kind of aid they gave me. But its still my best offer by far.

In an email to me, Depauw said that I will be notified of the decision by early March (both snail mail and email) but today it is 16th already Does it mean that I’ve been rejected? Btw, I’m an international student…

Email them

i applied under EA plan. decision due Feb15
but due to some problems with my toefl waiver, my file was late completed so mine was deferred to RD.
until now i have heard lots of ppl have got their decisions, while I am still waiting
omg, since feb until now…

Depauw gives you aid according to your contribution ability.

Actually I find DePauw quite generous compared with other schools of similar ranks. The school fin aid packages meet the full need of at least 5 people in my country (all of them contribute <15k). Of course, there’s at least 15 or more people that was accepted with very limited aids. It seems that if DePauw likes you enough, they’ll give you the President’s Award, which ALWAYS meet your full need. But if not, they’ll leave you with a BIG gap.
