Hi Everyone
I recently got accepted into GSU Honors Program and UGA(not Honors) and I plan to major in International Studies, and I am wondering if any of you here major in it too? Any opinions or advises? It's a tough pick for me because most of the people I know tell me that I should go to UGA, because it is a higher tier school and the academics are better...I'd like to study at a school where competitiveness is present, but I do not know anyone who majors in I.S. in GSU or goes to Honors College so I can't make a decision yet.
My bro goes to GSU(not Honors). He makes pretty decent grades and that makes me doubt how challenging the courses here are... I know that he has been studying a lot more than he did in high school, and has made considerably remarkable improvements, but if he is able to get several A's, then the courses must not be rigorous enough... Any honest response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also how are the Honor Programs at GSU? Are they good?

I’m actually planning on attending GSU for IR this year, so maybe my selection process can give you some insight.

UGA definitely has a larger program regarding International Studies/Foreign Policy. Check this out:

While it’s more popular, note that it’s higher on the list than Tech or Emory-- both of which have better respected programs.

There’s really a lot that goes into your decision. I chose GSU because it was in a large, culture-rich city (Atlanta) rather than Athens. That means 1. A better chance of getting an internship. 2. If you ever wanted to transfer or go to grad school, Emory and Tech are only a couple of miles away. I also love the city and feel like it has so much more to offer than a college town. Just my opinion though :)
