How good is the International Studies Major at Yale? I know most things at Yale are amazing but is it worth it to sacrifice academic exploration to double major in it or will majoring in poli sci with a focus on international relations be just as good as studying IS as a double major? Thanks for any input.

please please please answer the question

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. I dont know too much about the International Studies/Relations department at Yale, would anyone be able to provide me with any information? I tried doing a search here on the forum, but nothing came up except for this post.

Ask admissions or your regional director how they differ and how they are similar. They'll be the best people to answer this. (But you don't have to pick your major(s) until after freshman year, don't you? I'm an intl. so I'm a bit fuzzy on the concept - where I'm from you enter a university and start studying your major straight away. :p)

Thank you for your response. Although I do have time to declare a major, I already know what I would like to study. I just did some research on the MacMillan Center on the Yale website, and I was wondering if anyone could provide any information on the International Studies major at Yale. Has anyone on the forum taken this major, and could they be able to provide me with any thoughts on the program personally? I also noticed that looking through the MacMillan website that it is possible to major in Latin American studies. As a student at Yale, would I be able to tack on the International Studies major onto this major, or is the International Studies major only suggested to be studied with Political Science?
Sorry for all the questions!

I'm pretty sure you could do both. Your first major only needs to relate to IS somehow.
