International Studies

Is there a difference between international Studies, international affairs, and international relations?
If so, What is the difference?

The U of Chicago has an International Studies major which is highly rated and very popular. My understanding from my child is that this international studies differs from the typical international relations major in that it is much more anthropology oriented rather than political science oriented. Therefore, culture of the area is given more emphasis than political theory. I.e. a major in latin american studies at Chicago( a branch of international studies) would place more emphasis on the culture and practices of a certain region than their political organizations and practice. Language study also tends to be more emphasized in international studies with courses in regional dialects and
linguistical studies gaining more attention.

thanks!

anyone else?
