I'm sorry for starting another thread... I'm new and not quite sure what I'm doing yet.

I had a quick question for anyone who's been on a thespian trip or who's S or D was part of the International Thespian Society when they were in highschool. I am starting my freshman year of highschool and I'm hoping to join my school's troupe. What can I expect from this? What are thespian trips like and what do you do at them?

Thanks!

You can attend your regional, state, and international festivals. You have the opportunity to present your talent through many different artistic categories (musical theatre, mime, duet, solo, acting, etc.) International Festival is held in Lincoln, Nebraska in June. Check out edta.org and you'll have access to a lot of information.

I was inducted this past spring but unfortunatley my troupe doesn't go on any its trips.

Do you have to go with a school or can you just go as an individual?

I think you can go as an individual but you have to have a sponsor or something with you and to register you - I am pretty sure Hayley went as an individual...could be wrong though...

You do have to go with a sponsor, but if your home troupe is not attending, you can contact your State Thespian Director who can probably put you in touch with the sponsor of a nearby troupe that is attending, and would be willing to register you with their troupe.

BigIsmama is right - we had a boy with our troupe that's from our town, but is a member of a different troupe that wasn't going to Nebraska. You can also go if you're not a member of a troupe, but you have to have a chaperone. This past year, a girl and her mother came to festival for auditions and college research. It is an additional $75 - at least it was this year!

Illinisue is correct; but unless parent REALLY wants to attend, that could get expensive as you need to pay full registration fee for week for kid, as well as parent (something like $475, each I think).
