International transcript and the common app

Hey guys!

My counselor and I were about to send his part of the application but when the agreement part came, it said that "I agree to send a pdf of the student's transcript". My transcript is in romanian and I scanned it. My question is, can I personally translate it, typing the english names of the courses I'm taking over the romanian names, and send both documents? Because getting an official translation here takes a week and costs a fortune. And because they're pretty similar names, I guess they can take my word for it

Alisyn,

You need to ask each of the colleges that you are applying to what to do about your transcript. Some will require that you send it to be professionally evaluated by an organization such as [World Education Services - International Education Intelligence](http://www.wes.org/) Some will translate and evaluate it themselves, some will even accept your own informal translation. But you need to ask.

Thank you! Do you think an email to the admission’s office will suffice?

I did email, and most said that if I translate it or have a school official do it, and sign it, it should be alright.

That’s great news!
