International transfer applicant

Hey everyone :)

I’m looking to transfer to Brown for Fall 2010 admission from the UK and would appreciate any advice.

I’m a first-year undergraduate at Cardiff University in Wales studying for a BA in English Literature. I have straight As at A-Level and good GCSE grades too. Obviously because I’ve only been at university since September I haven’t got a strong idea of how I’m doing academics-wise here (none of my essays will be officially graded until February) but my tutors all seem very positive. Extra-curriculars - I’ve done a lot of volunteer work, both in the UK and overseas, held leadership and mentor positions, written for high school and university newspaper, started up a business from scratch with a group of friends and completed various expeditions. Also won the UK’s most prestigious poetry competition for young people, had work experience at The Times newspaper and won a BBC journalism competition.

I guess what I’m most concerned about is how to best complete the forms Brown requires such as the Secondary School Report - since the UK high school system is so different to the US one? Also with the College’s Official Report and College Transcript, I’ve only been at my current college for 3 months… I’m not sure how well any of my tutors know me yet!

Basically, any advice you can offer regarding my chances and any advice about international transfer applicantions, especially from the UK, would be most appreciated :)

Edit: Extra information -

Financial aid - there’s no way my family could afford the full $52,000, but they could probably make some contribution… I’m struggling to find detailed info about financial aid for intl. transfer applicants on the Brown site, anyone have any ideas?

would you chance me and i’ll help you out??
