Hi I am in a bit of a problem. I am studying in an Indian University which gives out percentages on each subject exams. And the University is not generous with their marks, so if you calculate my GPA from my percentages it comes to a really low GPA, about 2.14/4 if you just calculate the percentage directly to GPA by taking it on a scale of 4. Therefore my hands are tied, I am applying only to Drexel, Stevens, IndianaU-PurdueU and RIT, NY. These Univs give out good FinAid to Intl Students and have CoOp Programmes which help finance my education. After I transfer to suppose Drexel and complete a year of engineering there and manage to get a good GPA will I be able to transfer to a better institution like USC or similar?

I've got good recs from Profs, good extra curriculars, great work ex and more, just my marks are not comparable to other applicants. How does this affect me?

Your college grades are the most important factor in transfer admissions. It would be a good idea to get your current university to send along statistics on their grade distribution so that the colleges you are applying to know how to interpret your GPA. It is indeed possible to transfer twice. Financial aid may be a problem; it is generally less available to transfer students.

thanks for the info! You see I am an International Undergraduate applying for a transfers admission to Drexel University, in addition to my application materials I will be submitting rank certificates and all to prove this. What my point is, do private universities limit their finaid to transfer students in general? And I dont think being an International Undergrad I am eligible for FinAid right? Im talking about scholarships. Also, what do you think of an initial transfer to Drexel? What is their reputation in the market and their CoOperative Education Program?

Thanks for the reply Ronaldo, what Im asking is whether Drexel University, PA is a good place to goto in case of an emergency transfer from a foreign University (Outside the US) and then transfer again to another place like USC, CA after a year? What kind of scholarships does Drexel give out to Incoming International Undergraduate Transfer students?

Basically what my questions is, does it make sense to attend a place like Drexel University with their CoOp Programme where I work 6 months and study 6 months on campus and then maybe transfer AGAIN to a place like USC (which will hopefully accept me as a Transfer student)???

What do you say, should I accept Drexel’s offer?
