I have a student who is Japanese. She was recently accepted into the junior year by an excellent university. If she weren't an international she would have received a 12k scholarship. As an international she is only recieving 5k. She can't get any money from her parents. She is married to an American but he is unemployed and they can't show a credit history for loans. She is an incredibly talented and hard working student. Does anyone have any ideas? I have already thought of contacting her embassy and other national associations, i.e. social and business clubs. She deserves this opportunity more than any other student I have taught in 20 years.
