International Transfer Students 2009

I thought Brown was not for international "transfer" students.

To be accurate, international "transfer" students.

yeah, deft. brown is need aware policy

duHH!!..ya i am interested in neuroscience and ironically i am in a same mindset of transferring eventhough i have'nt been to the college,,,..

And BTW,,harvard doesnot accept transfers for upcoming 2-3 years and Colby,as far as i know is need blind if you are a UWC scholar,so the list drops down to:

MIT

Dartmouth

Yale

Middlebury

Bryn Mawr (w)

Mount Holyoke (w)

Smith (w)

Amherst
9.Stanford???

w = women's college

And may i add,,,Lucky Girls!!!!!!!

Hi isnwta,
i am thinking of majoring in neuroscience but the college that i will b attending this august ..does not offer neuroscience as a major...soo i was looking at colleges that do ..for now i really like Amherst as it seems to have awesome neuro programs with research opportunities! and have u decided on any colleges yet ??

hey, this thread is great.

I am also an international student. I am thinking of goin to a less competitive university for fall 2008. But i dont have any desire to be there always. But it seems that transferring is very competitive especially for one like me who needs a great deal of financial aid.

I have another option in my mind though. If i go to USA for now and apply to a very generous university as AN ENTERING FRESHMAN again, i think i will be able toget a good deal financial aid.

please help me. Can this be a possibility for me?

btw..stanford is not need blind for international students.

do u plan to enroll into a college for now and then apply again as an entering freshman again next yr????

so for now the list is -
1. MIT
2. Dartmouth
3. Yale
4. Middlebury
5. Bryn Mawr (w)
6. Mount Holyoke (w)
7. Smith (w)
8. Amherst

! its so short! i hope it starts growing soon !! lol

I believe Bryn Mawr, Mt Holyoke and Smith are not need blind.

Up to now there are only 8 colleges in the US that offer Need-blind admission to intl students:
1. MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Massachusetts
2. Harvard University in Massachusetts
3. Princeton University in New Jersey
4. Yale University in Connecticut
5. Williams College in Massachusetts
6. Middlebury College in Vermont
7. Dartmouth College in New Hampshire
8. Amherst College in Massachusetts.

I believe Mt Holyoke meets full need. I cant remember abt Smith or Bryn Mawr though, maybe its the same.

Oops. Yes Brown is Need Aware for intel transfers. Idk what I was thinking there...

@dUHH!!
yes, i was trying to say that. can this be a possibility?

please everyone, reply to the post number 26. help me out of these confusions.

hey turn_nine,
i dont think thats possible! if u enroll in any undergrad prog, u have to apply as a transfer student. well...atleast, all the colleges i have come across till now say that on their website...

yep,MHC and Smith are need aware(the same to brown's policy).
Williams doesnt accept any intl transfer, forget about it.
harvard doesnt accept any transfer in two years.
princeton never accept any transfer.

turn_nine,your idea is deft. impossible.forget about it.

If u can stay in ur own country for college, u might have a chance next year.
If u r coming to US right now, forget it.

soo has anyyybody yet decided on which coll he/she will b applying nxt yr?? ...i still have no clue...is that normal? or am i toooooo confused!!?!!!!!!!!!! ......
btw... how many colleges is everybody planning to apply to?

THere is no financial Aid for transfer students at Stanford. YOu sign on the application saying taht oyu will not apply for financial aid... just a thought

ARe you sure there is no fin aid for transfers????

the link below states an application time line for applicants, including intl transfer students to fill up the fin aid form....so that woud mean they do have financial aid for intl transfer students.... but the thing is, its extremely limited and stanford is not 'need blind' to intl students, freshmen as well as transfer....soo whatever chances u have as an applicant will b severely affected by the financial need u show.
