International Universities that a friendly to Americans?

I plan on applying to Toronto and McGill, but where else?
Maybe in UK or Canada?
The problem with the UK is the exchange rate and that fact that you no longer apply for full federal loans.

For example Oxbridge(1 choice after MIT) is hostile to Internationals...because they can be.

Check out St. Andrews (Scotland)-they actively recruit in the US. So do several other schools in Scotland. The American students who attend give them good reviews.

what do you plan on majoring in. different Canadian schools are good for different things.

butchokoy: I think that you have misunderstood Triforces. He means hostile to applications from internationals. Cambridge had exactly 6 Americans in a recent entering class. They are very forthright in saying Americans don’t have the academic background to get in. Their standards for Americans are well in excess of those for the local UK students, and even brilliant Americans with multiple 5’s on APs are turned away if they are seeking a popular subject. At some top British prep schools, over a third get into Oxford or Cambridge.

How it Trinity College Dublin?

I don’t interpret this as being hostile as much as holding American students to the same standards as British students. An American student with 5s on the AP Calc BC and Statistics exams would still have less of a math background than a British student with the full A Level math sequence, for example, and the lack of math background might be significant for a very math-heavy program. American universities do the same: for example, Caltech will not admit international students who have not taken Calculus in high school.

British universities are actually more flexible admission-requirement-wise than American universities. British universities will accept whatever academic credentials foreign students receive in their home country for admission decisions, while American universities make international applicants take the American college admission tests (SAT etc). I am sure British universities would not be “hostile” towards American applicants who went the extra mile to sit for A Level exams and did well on them.

Toronto and McGill are fine institutions. I’m an undergrad at UofT.

Triforces, what is you planned major? certain canadian schools are best at certain things.

^^^^
Physics or Aerospace Engineering/Electrical Engineering

You could consider Concordia?
Montreal is such a beautiful city :-)

University College of London. It is supposed to be top 20 in the world.
