International wait listed needing a lot of aid.

Hey guys, I'm international (from South America), and i got wait listed, the worst part is that Williams also putted me on a wait list, and they are my only two options, well of course study in my country is the other one, but I don't want to do it, I have worked really hard to be in an American college. Do you think that is foolish of me to think that I will be able to get off the wait list, I mean, I know it is hard for everyone and it depends on the year the change that we have to get off the list, but being international needing aid doesn't make it almost impossible to happen??

It’s not impossible, but no one except Grinnell can give you any information and of course they can’t tell you anything until they have heard from everyone they accepted. I’m sure it’s tough to wait. Best wishes!

If you don’t get off the wait list and do very well in a college in your own country for a year, a transfer to a US college would be a viable option.

Are those the only two schools you applied to? If so, you should really check on them and see if there’s anything you can do to improve your chances. I’m not going to lie to you; international student needing aid on a waitlist is an uphill climb, but it’s not quite impossible as you noticed.

Thank you so much for the advices, @ bethievt, that is my plan B right now!! I will go to a good school in my country and transfer in a year or two, or finish here and go to grad school if possible!! and @ Gardna, thank you I already called the office and I working on a plan to try to get off, some people say that I should forget about them but for the last year and a half I have been working, studying and living off by myself in the states just to be in a college here, so I guess that I have to thrive until the end and if they finally say no, well I will have to move on!!! but I keep my finger crossed, thank you.

Yes, it certainly makes sense for you to do what you can to show your interest in these schools and then just…wait. You’ll never know if you don’t try.
