Hey everyone,
I’m from Australia. I’m currently in Grade 11 and will begin writing college applications the year before grade 12 (this Janurary - our summer is Dec/Jan). I consider myself to be academically and extra-curricular competitive (good SATs, grades and I’m an entrepreneur and have helped build the entrepreneurship community in my city of Broome, Australia).
My mum is a single parent and my Dad is unable to contribute financially. Stanford will cost equivalent to $100k AUD per year for me to attend. It is my goal school and I feel like this is the only school where I will be able to thrive entrepreneurially and academically (any other schools you guys have recommendations for?)
My question is, will applying for FA affect my acceptance chances? Stanford barely gives out FA to internationals and it is a factor in their admissions.
Yes. A lot of schools are need aware for international students. Best of luck
You didn’t answer my question @kingslayer7. I know that. My question was will it affect my chances by applying for fa
How did @kingslayer7 not answer your question? If a school is need-aware then yes, applying for financial aid will hurt your chances.
As far as I know, only Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT and Amherst are need-blind for internationals.
@stanfordgoalz I said yes… and the whole point of being need aware is that schools will factor in how much financial aid you need in their decision. Don’t know how you didn’t understand this
Have you run the NPC? Including both parents ’ income, what’s the result in us dollars?
Yes, Stanford is need aware, so the more money you need, the lower your odds.
There are MANY universities that are for entrepreneurial students : cmc, Babson, Bentley, usc iovine academy, the many top business schools, the stem-mba programs…
