International with low GPA... Apply early or not?

I want to apply to Stanford early next year but I was wondering if I shouldn't because my GPA is low. I will probably do well in the senior year, and Stanford won't be able to see that if I apply early. I am probably applying without financial aid to maximize my chances. but my GPA is my weakest part (probably will be around 81%. even though 80-100% is considered as an A in Canada..) I messed up my sophomore year.

Any advice?

First, financial aid doesn't matter at Stanford. They kind of hide it, but they're need-blind for Canadians. Also, you probably have a better chance SCEA rather than RD, but I wouldn't be too hopeful with an 81%, unless you go to a very competitive high school. I reccomend using the EA for other schools you'd really like to attend.

Thanks for the reply.. I didn't know they were need-blind for Canadians. wonder why they'd hide it? I am actually a Korean citizen living in Canada as a permanent resident. so whether I apply for FA does matter.

I would say my school is pretty competitive. We have 5 people going to ivies this year, which is a lot for a Canadian public school. But people who got in have average around 90%, so I might not even have a chance at all. how about if I applied to Columbia or Cornell ED without FA?

81% seems very low...How are your test scores?

right now I only have 800 math II and 780 bio, but I'm taking my SAT I in a week. I'm expecting at least a 2100.

Anyone else??
thanks

Our valedictorian was flat-out rejected SCEA this year. Another kid got in, but he is brilliant and has amazing ECs along with a ton of charisma. So you will have to be all-around impressive to get in.
