International with low SAT and low GPA. Still any chance?

Im Latino and live in Europe. Well, my uw gpa is 3.38/4 and my sat (I took November 7) is only 1770.
I intend to apply to
Colgate
Syracuse
NYU
Union
Pace
Siena
St. Lawrence
Florida State U
University of Arizona
Praire View

I also though of Fordham, Skidmore, Louisiana State U, and Penn State or Miami.

Do I have any chance? Does it even worth it or my stats just kill me?

I intend to apply for aid, but in case I’m denied my family can still afford.

Please.

Bump.

Please I need to know in order to apply .

Hooks? Ec? You have a chance for some of the schools.

I think you have a chance at Arizona. Not sure about the rest.
NYU is definitely a reach.
What’s your intended major?

@Thewildnorth96 my EC are not so strong because are not common in this country, but i did my best. Do you think I could have a chance in Syracuse? Since they don’t require SAT and I got a 96 in toefl .

@elysium305 computer science or information systems. My second choice, in case, would be chemistry.
NYU I know is almost impossible but who knows. Don’t you know about the rest or you’re not sure because of my stats?

Thank you two!

Look at the average stats of the most recent freshman class on each school’s site and that will give you an idea of where you stand.

@s16s18s21s25 but maybe being international also influences the decision, that’s what I don’t know.

Not quite sure for Syracuse. Are you a junior or senior?

Google the common data sets for all the schools. Look at Sections C9-C12. If your test scores and unweighted GPA are at or above the averages then you have a decent chance at these schools. You look like you have a good chance at University of Arizona.

@Thewildnorth96 I heard that they like Int’l a lot and that SAT is not necessary. I’m a senior.

@Gumbymom thank you so much, and I will do that.

Bump.

The key question here, before any chances can be done, is: can your parents afford 40K per year?

@MYOS1634 my parents can’t , so I will apply for aid. But my aunt can and she offered for sponsoring me.

I’ll rephrase this: when you fill out the Certification of Finance, will you be able to show 40K available for your education, each year?
If so, then you have a shot at some universities
Union
Pace
Siena => add Marist, SUNY New Paltz, Elmira
St. Lawrence => add Manhattan College, St Michael’s, UScranton
Florida State U => add University of South Florida, University of North Florida
University of Arizona => apply to Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Chico, Sonoma State (deadline is Monday!!)
Praire View => rather than Prairie view, why don’t you apply to Howard, Spelman or Morehouse?
Penn State = ONLY if your application is and mailed by Monday at the latest

If you can’t, then, no.

@MYOS1634 at least for first year, yes.

It’s pointless to attend college for a year, then go home, spending 40K without anything to show for it. What’s your plan exactly?

@MYOS1634 I mean that what they ask you for is to show that you have founds to pay for the first year, no all the four years.

American colleges like int’ls who are FULL PAY and/or EXCEPTIONAL. Unexceptional int’l students wanting FA are a dime a dozen.

Colleges have a limited budget for awarding FA, and the budget is even more limited for awarding it to int’l students. They are willing to overlook lower stats if the int’l candidate is fullpay, has exceptional talent, or has important connections (e.g., your parent is the prime minister of your country).

You have middling GPA, low SAT scores, sub-100 TOEFL, weak ECs, and you want money. URM status for being Latino doesn’t apply to int’ls. So you need to honestly assess how realistic it is for American colleges to award limited funds to you.

Since you live in Europe, why not attend university in Europe? University fees there are cheap.
