Internationals Accepted ???

Congratulations, Kvasek. The econ department at UT is great, and Austin is a fun town.

I am an international student too and am applying to Amherst, Lawrence, Berea and Grinnell. What do you think about those colleges for a major in Biology or Pre-med?

^what kind of stat’s do you accepted internationals have? Trying to get a gauge of what internationals are getting in with. thanks, good luck to all, and congrats to those accepted, and for those not…forget about it. you will go to a great school and maybe UT wasn’t meant to be.

im an international and i got in to mc combs today!!! yay!
@viggyram: my sat is 2180 and my ecs are quite good but nothing spectacular… my essays were oayish good :)

nice, way to go slemtem! Where are you from, by the way? And since UTex. is a state school, do you qualify for any scholarships or FA? Isn;t the international tuition quite steep at UT?

i got in this afternoon… not my first choice tho :/

it seems everyone got their decisions… it is still reviewing mine… anyone else who didnt get it yet?.. and could accepted internationals kindly list first choice majors, accepted majors and sat scores?..thank you …

and @robyroby, slemtem, kvasek… congrats for getting in…

@indianinsaudi a friend of mine hasn’t received any news either, so you’re good… hope you get some good news soon!

robyroby, way to go! and yea, could the accepted internationals post their majors, SAT scores and other relevant info., please? It would help others gauge what their chances are and be helpful! (Y)

I got in today!!!
3.2 GPA, 1920 SAT
I know I have low stats but I think my essays and resume helped me get in. I wrote the optional essay also.
I applied to the school of education (Pre Athleic Training)

did any of the internationals accepted receive any scholarships or anything? Or are you paying the full international tuition? congrats painholic! that must be so exciting to know you got in.

Hi Pixeljig Son stats - 2180 SAT, 800 SAT math 2, 790 SAT Physics. 3.5 GPA, 35 ACT, AP Scholar with Distinction. Frankly with a 3.5 GPA and OOS we did not expect acceptance.

International…excellent essays, ****ty ec’s

@indianinsaudi, that sucks that you didn’t get into your 1st choice eng. major. Where else did you get accepted?

For the internationals accepted, have you received any scholarship offers? Or are you paying full intern’l tuition? And how heavily does UT weigh GPA+class rank for internationals/people that have established texas residency? I know for high school students in texas, class rank is a big deal. What about us?

@indianinsaudi

aww, i’m sorry you didn’t get your first choice… i didn’t either but my parents really want me to go to ut…

ViggyRam, it factors into the Academic Index they use for holistic admissions.
See page 2 of the report.
http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/research/HB588-Report12.pdf</a>
If your school doesn’t rank, they estimate a rank (page 4 of the report).

My daughter mentioned once that it seemed to her that many of the oos students that started when she did in fall 2008 came from high schools that do not rank.

It also seems to us that they understand things like American Schools and magnet schools, schools where a high proportion are really top students.

New: This most recent report actually shows the regression equations used to calculate Academic Index fall 2009. For people whose school ranks, you can calculate what UT thinks your estimated freshman year GPA will be.
