I feel my requirement of a lot of aid will be of greatest disadvantage to me.....

Female, Asian American living in Taiwan. Born in Texas, grew up in California.

GPA: 3.7 (I go to a really competitive school in Taiwan, it's recognized by the Ivy Leagues and top 50 universities because we've had quite a record. I'm a US citizen living abroad.)
SATs: V 730, M 740, W 730
SAT IIs: math IIC: 710, chem: 710, bio m: 730, chinese: 800.
APs: AP Biology (10th gr): 5, AP Chemistry (11th gr): 5. (We could only take one AP a year for 10th and 11th gr.)
Course schedule: AP English Literature, AP Chinese, AP US Government & Politics, AP Physics B, AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB. (Pretty much the heaviest course load you can have. All honors student throughout high school.)
Ranking: 17 out of 51

ECs (there aren't a lot of opportunities here..but we make most of it):
President of Drama Club (performing, directing, and producing upcoming productions)
Juniors' Prom Committee: Head of Misc. subcommittee
Cross Country Club: member since 8th grade (our school is gr. 1-12)
Humane Society (a club that takes care of the school dogs who are technically strays): In charge of medical supplies because of my work.
Community Service: Library Service and tutoring, have won awards.
Classically trained pianist, lessons for 6 years.
Work experience: Veterinarian's assistant at local animal clinic. 27 hrs/wk during summer, 3 hrs/wk since school started. My boss wrote recs for several of my schools.
Athletic awards for Intramural Field Day (with other departments that have a Taiwan-based education): 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals for 100 m, 400 m relay, 1500 m and such.
MC at annual department-wide Christmas concert: 11th gr.
Known for loving the stage :)
Member of Executive Council of Student Council: 9th gr.
Contacted and submitted resume to director Tom Lin for an audition in his next independent film.

Recs: Two teachers, and my boss for some schools. Probably not glowing rec's, but should be fine.

Essays: Everyone who's read them liked them, should be fine as well. I'm having writer's block at the moment, which is horribly inconvenient.

Uh, what else...my ECs aren't that great, I know, but I try to show that my strongest interests are theater and the biological sciences. I don't know what to do for a future career, being a vet is definitely more stable than an actress in the US.

List of schools in order of choice:

Vassar College
Wesleyan University
Tufts University
Haverford College
Emerson College
Smith College
UCLA
USC
UC San Diego
UC Davis

Vassar, Wesleyan, and Haverford are reaches. Sadly enough, because they're fantastic schools. Hope to see you at one of these though! :D

are u kidding me...those stats are pretty awesome....can't point out any flaw in your app..seriously...the SAT scores are impressive...EC's look very strong...the life from California to Taiwan can only do you good....what else could u desire more.....I hope I could join u in Vassar this fall hehe....but that's a long way away from me...I think u could have tried in some of the ivies as well.....Best Of luck anyway...

thank god u are an American citizen...else I would have my work cutout in places like Haverford.....I would never want to clash with you in college application...that would be a disaster for me....I see the next Julia Roberts in the making.hehe...

No one else applying to Haverford ??

Hey,i'm from China and also will apply for financial aid!
