hey guys i'm an indian who applied to UT for this fall semester.
I have an 1880 on the new SAT.
I've applied for pre-computer science.
I have ECs in basketball and swimmong medals on the zonal level
studying in CBSE. high school record pretty decent.
really good essays and 12/12 on the SAT essay.
sent couple of my paintings to impress them cuz i'm good at painting
what are my chances

Hey Ruchit....
My name is Siddharth and i goto UT Austin. Im from New Delhi. U have a decent chance... but i wouldnt call it 'excellent' . This is def. a reach school for you. I had a 1490/1600 in the old SAT....and i know that the lowest SAT score of an international student is like 1350/1600. and its whereabout...Altho, ur EC's should help... Uv applied for a competitive program, and it has great reputation here. UT is very very highly looked upon. There is something called the 'turing scholars prgrm', that u should look at. It's tied at no.3 with carnegie mellon's Comp.Sci honors prgrm, after MIT,Caltech(at no.1) and and Stanford at no.2 But, remember, its a very competitive prgrm, as well. I hope u got somewhere around 80-90% in ur Std. X board exams....coz they look at that in a big way. Ur SAT score is competitive, so dont wrry. Austin is a fabulous city....and UT is a great great school. I have enjoyed my time immensely here. I am an Economics and Finance major here. Let me know if i can be of any further help....to anyone for that matter...

P.S. - Expect NO financial aid... and make sure u apply to some safe school as well... ull get in to Purdue for sure, and they might even offer some aid...so, applying there is a good idea. They have a mch larger international acceptance rate. I got a full ride thr...so, im sure u shuld get smthng too...all the best!

Hey Siddharth. I go to UT also, and i'm also liking it here a lot. anyways, i'm a biochem/plan ii major here. if anyone needs to know anything about the majors/etc, i'll try to do what i can

plzzz ppl shed light on various ways by which an out of state tuition waiver may be obtained......... for international students who dont liv in USA.. or hav no parent there

do engineering honors acceptance giv it also... and what other ways are there ..

SM

hi sid!!
thnx soo much
I kno UT is really competitve but it's my dream school.
I scored 89.2% in the board exams...i hope that helps...what u said bout the board xams really gave me hope
I actually live in dubai.
I know another guy called siddharth who's from dubai over there who's doing computer science.
right now i'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
What year are you in?

i think at ut once you get a part-time job, you get in-state tuition

yy0712. how sure are you of that? can you remember where you saw it? thanks!

i heard that only if u do work 20 or more hrs a week that u get the instate tuition... not usually..??

SM

i will go there if if get in .... which i'm pretty sure of ...
oh yeah n..i'm from india... but i live in TX

Yeah ..I got in for pre computer sc.Will decide shortly about attending.

congrats!

i think smartmind's right. my friend works 20 hrs/wk doing research in lab. and that's how he got in-state tuition. if i find the policy anywhere..i'll post the link

well, I got in.. College of Engineering..
SAT 1: 730W, 670W, 640R
Sat 2: 700M2, 770Chem

Regarding financial aid, UT Austin has probably the lowest international fees anyway. If you don't get an aid package, there are alot of low-interest loan options available in the US, provided you can find someone to co-sign your loan application

hey ruships!
