<p>Unfortunately, no. There is a scheduled time for you to go to a sign-up for Internet (they basically ask you to fill out a form with your MAC address and tell you not to abuse the connection, as I recall). If you really need Internet access at that time, you should try to find an alternative plan. Most people are so busy moving in and meeting people that it isn't too big a deal.</p>

<p>You should be able to access wireless nearly anywhere on the main campus. If you're on north side, Cory has a 2nd floor lounge and Soda has 2nd floor labs and 5th-7th floor lounges to work in. If you're on south side, you can probably find an empty room in Dwinelle (southwest) or the music library (southeast). Look for a SSID of "Airbears", connect to it, and open your browser. It will ask for your student ID number and passphrase (the same ones you use to login to Bearfacts and Telebears). Login and you should be good to go.</p>
<p>Of course, there are always off-campus options as well. Brewed Awakening is a coffee shop on north side with wireless. Cafe Strada, located at College and Bancroft, also offers free wireless.</p>

<p>Because the network card in my former laptop had a hardware irregularity that resulted in a registered MAC of 00:00:00:00:00, I was able to get online the first day I got there. However, a couple of weeks into the semester, it stopped working, and I had to register a new MAC/bandwidth controls, etc. In was fun during the first couple of weeks to download with abandon though. :)</p>
