Hey everyone, I graduated from highschool last year and was accepted to some really great schools. I decided to put college on hold for a one of a kind internship on a presidential campaign. Things are going really well, and I just sent out my applications (second time around!). Wesleyan is my first choice, and I'm just wondering if this whole "gap year" thing will be a good or bad thing to the admissions committee? I did it for myself, not to impress anyone. I'd make this same decision in a heartbeat. I'm just wondering what you think. I don't want to go into stats but I was accepted to three top LACs and one top University last year. I hope that gives you an idea. Thanks!

I don't think it'll hurt your chances any--it sounds like what you are doing is very worthwhile. Curious, though--why didn't you accept one of the offers and ask for a one-year deferment?

yeah I know two or three people here at Wes who got accepted and were granted one-year deferments... but anyway, you have a great shot, and the internship can only help, not hurt, your chances!
