Internship after graduation?

Unfortunately I messed up many classes as an EE major. I'm a senior now and I have no internship experience, no projects or anything. All of my 300/400 level classes are in my senior year.

If I graduate with a 2.9-3.0 cumulative gpa and a 3.3-3.4 major gpa, along with 3 projects and some research, do you guys think it's possible to look for internships with companies in hopes of transferring to a full time employee?

Or is there hope for me to just apply for a full time job with no experience?

I'm hoping to get into embedded/dsp/communications.

3.3 - 3.4 major GPA is pretty solid, put that on your resume. Your cumulative is a bit low but many places won’t care as much, if at all.

Just look for a full time job, you should be able to get one. You don’t NEED experience. What you need to do, however, is interview well. Present yourself well during an interview and you will be amongst the top tier of candidates, regardless of everything else.

Most internship opprtunities stipulate that you must still be a student, and returning to school after the completion of the internship.

Does this work for students who will go straight to grad school?

Thats a good question, GShine. My recall, from having looked at a lot of these lately (but they are all running in my head) is that they said they were for undergrads returning to school.

Is that for just EE or all disciplines of engineering? :(

There are a few opportunities for students in this category, however most I’ve seen are research internships (at national laboratories).

I know a few interns at my workplace that graduated in 2009! These interns will probably be offered full time positions come September.

i asked my advisor in my university after reading this immediately…she said no, the companies usually don’t care if you are going to grad school right after the internship. I plan to do this myself.
