I was admitted into BU COM, and a big part of selecting a college, for me, is the availability and options in study abroad programs, which BU seems to boast. Additionally, after doing a bit of reading on the COM website, I’ve noticed that there are also various internship programs (LA & DC) for COM students which are becoming ever appealing in my college selection process.

Because of the concurrent nature of the internship programs (taking an avg. of 3 major-related courses while working an avg. of 20 hrs/wk), I would like to know how feasible it would be to study abroad for a semester (which may not fulfill any major rqmts) AND participate in an internship program, still within 4 years? Both opportunities seem wonderful, but I’d hate to choose BU only to discover that I won’t be able to participate in both, if you know what I mean…

Kind of putting the cart before the horse, aren't you? Those internships in COM are for Juniors and Seniors and are part of the COM program - you can find more info in the COM Bulletin. The study abroad program at BU is huge, may be the largest in the country and has its own site - here. Study abroad is separate and you can do what you want as long as you meet your requirements toward a degree, as in you can do more than a semester abroad. I suppose you'd need to look at which classes are offered where.

It's definitely NOT the largest in the country, actually, I find it somewhat disappointing.

And to the OP, I certainly think this is a valid convern before you choose BU. Maybe email the study abroad or internship office directly, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help if possible
