I have an opportunity to intern in her New York City Office. The question is, would this be a reason to decline me from a school? If they didn't like Hillary (since she's running for Senator this year, when I apply to college) they would have some type of political bias?

Otherwise, how strong does an internship from a prominent politican sound on a college app?

They should not be taking a personal political viewpoint into the picture when looking at your application. They want a diverse student body and varying political viewpoints is a good thing. (Unless you're applying somewhere weird like Bob Jones University). That being said, it is possible that an admissions officer would have a negative perception of you due to political views, but seems highly unlikely considering that many politically active people apply to colleges and put that on their resumes.

An internship with her would definately look good, I would definately go for the opportunity. Congratulations on getting this opportunity.

Congratulations! I'm taking it that her office doesn't mind receiving applications from people who aren't quite college students yet, then? (thinking about applying myself)

I don't think there's any AdCom that would look negatively upon the accomplishment of attaining the one of the most sought after and competitive political internships in the US. I would say this is probably in the top three along with the White House and Governor Schwarzenegger.

Interning with Gov. Schwarzenegger doesn't take fancy qualifications. The application requires a 2.8 GPA and is brief. It doesn't strike me as very competitive, and I know several people who have interned there and been bored to tears. Eh.
