Internship Chances

I just finished my sophomore year of college, and am currently participating in an internship for the summer. I am interning in the finance department at a very large not for profi organization. it has been a great experience with lots of challenges/hands on experience. Now, I am thinking ahead to my internship for next summer.

I currently have a 3.81 gpa at a large state school with an average academic reputation. I had a 1400 on the SAT in High School and could have easily gone elsewhere, but money was a constraint. I am a finance and accounting double major, with a minor in applied econ.

I'm pretty involved on campus. One major leadership role, one in IFC, and one minor leadership role. I will get great recommendations from administrators and previous employers.

Between now and next summer, I will participate in a winter internship with new york life, and a spring internship with a local Merrill Lynch branch.

My main goal is to secure a presteious internship for next summer that will look great on a resume and will give me a good experience.

First off- will I have a shot at getting an internship at a place like Goldman or Deloitte? From what I understand these are the two most prestegious accounting/ finance firms, and I would love to spend the summer at their corporate headquarters in new york. Is that a possibility?

Secondly- What places should i consider for my internship. Right now I am only considering goldman, merrill, jp morgan, and the big 4 accounting firms. Are their any places that I am missing?

Thanks for the help

You can definitely get into Big Four with your credentials, see if you can land an internship (I'm guessing Investment Banking or Management and not back office) at the big banks see how you like it (if you can get it). If not you can always fall back on Big Four. Those seem like great places to apply too, don't forget the others like Credit Suisse, BOFA, Bear Sterns (hehe) and etc.
