Internship Help.

I'm thinking about applying to one of the few spots to become an intern at the Scripps Health Institute. It sounds like a great program that will help me learn how to conduct research. However, I recently heard from a college admissions officer that internship is a sign of "helicopter parents."

If I choose to be an intern, will this hurt my chances of being accepted??

Are you serious! That sucks big time :(

lol no that's BS...apply to the internship.

I don't know anything about this program or internship, but I'd have to agree with the previous poster. If you want the internship for the reasons that you say, rather than just "because it'd look good," then go for it, regardless. If the topic ever comes up in an interview, essay, etc. then the fact that you have your own reasons should be clear (and perhaps make the accomplishment even more impressive, if this admissions officer was speaking truthfully).

Can't imagine a admin counselor saying such a thing, most colleges boast about the internships their students get. If you want it - go for it.

Go for it. It'll help you gain valuable skills that will definitely help you later on in life, whether it's for college or not.
