hey guys, I want to go to Wharton. Does an internship or a job look good on the resume? Which one, internship or resume, looks better. Also, for wharton, where should i get the internship/job? Like where should i work. Thanks for the internship.

wait, in the previous post, i said "which looks better, internship or resume. Thats a mistake, i meant to say internship or a job.

It's not necessary to have either an internship or job to raise the appeal of your application.

just do something worth talking about over the summer

ok i hate it when ppl say "do something special or worth talking about" or when they say "theres nothing special about ure EC". Examples about those things plz cuz i dont know any besides internship. Someone who did get into penn told me that getting an Internship really helps. So please give me an example of something worth talking about. And if u can, plz give me an internship position that would be good for wharton cuz i wanna do it anyways.

Try underwater basket weaving. Ask anyone here, it really helps! If you're hardcore, you'd try doing it blind folded.

lol nice one, thats really special. but im not really good at anything special or any sports or anything. Only chess. i cant even swim. lol yep. Any more advice?

"i cant even swim"

You have to learn that. I'm not even joking. Almost all colleges do a freshman class health inspection and in that inspection they do a swim test.

Try finding an internship in marketing or business at a local business.

Ya funployee's right, but on the bright side you can chicken out of the swin test by taking a PE class.

YAY for alternative solutions!

Interestingly enough, Penn doesn't have a swimming or PE requirement.

You're not good at anything special? You have no idea what something worth talking about would be? So basically you want to game the system to misrepresent yourself? You sound exactly like the kind of people the adcoms don't want here.

Get a life.

gosh so mean, what am i suppose to do. Im good at nothing. I might try fencing or wrestling next year. Sigh, when u say marketing and financing at local businesses, the most i can do at a local business is stay at the counter and take people's orders(if food place). I cant really do their financing **. Is sitting at the counter good enough? And, any ideas for what might be **special?

Special is anything you're special in...get it?

I'm sorry to say this but if you're "good at nothing", I doubt you'd have success at many of the Top universities. So are you serious - nothing has made you tick, ever?

Let's see then why do you want to go to Wharton?

Because i m interested in business.

Now there's a new one ;)

just answer the question, is sitting at the counter and helping organize stuff at a local store good enough. Cuz how do i do marketing stuff there.

NO, almost every single teenager out there does it!

well then how do i do marketing at a local business? I mean, it will be ez to get the internship at a local business bcuz my uncle has a store(which doesnt have to be posted next to the internship in my resume). But, what do i ask him? What exactly is that i would do? Make flyers for his store? Isnt that marketing? lol. Gimme some ideas what i would do that wharton would like. NO jokes plz.

^ If you can lie and get away with it of course. But be prepared to talk about it in the interview.

I think you're worrying too much. If you like the idea of being a cashier, then by all means do it. Talk about how good customer service is the key to every business, the usual BS. PM me if you need any help (I'm sure my IBness will help)

as i said, i really dont know. What ever helps for wharton.

Man, whatever happened to the days when kids actually pursued their passion and interests? Teenagers are literally robots now.

Sorry to sound like an ass, sushant, but you really don't seem like you want to go to Wharton for no other reason than the rankings. I even have to question why you want to study business.
