Internship opportunities for internationals?

I don't really know anything about internships but how hard is it for international students?
I look forward to living in the US after finishing my graduate education (currently in highschool; 5th year in the US)
and.. Are competitive schools usually better for internships? For example, Virginia Tech vs. Purdue vs. Carnegie Mellon
What can I do now to maximize my internship chances? (deciding schools and etc.)

You can get internships or a part-time job as long as you can speak proper English without bad accent. Sorry, but I think people are more willing to work with people that don’t have bad accent.

To maximize your chance, you should look into the location. You will find plenty of internship opportunities in urban areas, especially large city like New York City. School reputation and organization are very important too. You should go to those respective schools’ forums and ask for students’ evaluations. Competitive schools are more well-known and they have larger and better alumni network, and career centers.

But it also depends on the visa you are holding, too.
