I'm a civil engineering major and I got an an internship at a local construction firm. The problem is they assumed that I am on the structural engineering discipline while I'm actually on the transportation/project management discipline. I didn't figure it was that big of a deal since there is only a 2-class difference between the two tracks, but now I'm worried that if they find out they may think I lied. What should I do? It's only a difference of two classes (dynamics class and a soils lab class)between the two tracks. Both are still in the civil engineering major. Should I just let it go or tell them and risk losing my internship?

bump…

Why would they assume you’re on structural engineering track?

Did you actually lie about being on the structural track? If you did not lie or mislead them, then I would not say anything or worry about it.

If you lead them to believe that you were a structural engineering student then this is your fault and you should definitely notify them and say ‘I think I may have mislead you but… I was wondering if this would be an issue’ before they find out.
