Internship the summer before senior year

So, I'm wondering if there is much of a point to do an internship the summer before senior year... because don't you turn in your application before the summer anyways so you can put it on your application?

Spunky, although doing an internship for its own sake at any time in your life can certainly be valuable, it seems your question relates to using an internship on your resume for an application.

You can help us give you advice if you clarify your question a bit: Are you talking about someone who is a senior in HS or in college? What application process are you looking for advice about exactly?

Sorry, I’m talking about high school. I’m a junior right now and my friend did an internship during the summer and said that it looks very good on college applications. He recommended I do an internship as well, but my concern is that it doesn’t show up on college applications since I would have to do it next summer, which is after I would already have turned in my college applications. Am I correct? And if it doesn’t show up on my college application, I’m wondering what other advantages there are to doing an internship and if those reasons are worth doing one.

The summer before the senior year is the MOST IMPORTANT summer. You turn in your college applications in November & December.

The November and December of you junior year though right? That’s before the summer

iceui2 is exactly right. next summer is your most important summer in terms of college applications. it isn’t until after next summer that the application season begins for you. The applications aren’t even available until then. Some rolling decision schools start making decisions in September/October of your senior year. Early action and early decision deadlines fall in November and December of your senior year and some ED 2 deadlines are in January. Deadlines for regular decision are in January of your senior year or even later. So next summer is important and your class selection and fall grades your senior year are important, too. Also, you can (and should) take SAT/ACT this year so that if you want to retake before applying there will be plenty of time.

Okay, thanks. That helps a lot, I always thought I was very close to applying but I guess it’s a year later than I thought haha.
