Internship Transcript questions

so here's the story:
I've had problems with college mainly due to depression and family issues, so I have had to drop a good amount of semesters, like 3. If you look at my transcript I have a good amount of w's. Right now I'm trying to finish up my electrical engineering degree and I recently went to the school spring career fair. I was very happy to find out, although I kinda knew, that my major is in high demand. The problem is that I've had a couple businesses email me back after looking at my resume and want me to fill out the application, and my transcript. How do you think most companies feel about the amount of w's on my transcript and what should I say when they inevitably, if I get an interview, ask me about my amount of w's? I feel like saying that you've had mental health issues isn't a very marketable answer. Also, I'm 26 now so I could say that I've had years to mature and that I'm getting over my past mistakes. What should I say, and how do you think they will react?

I would personally just be honest with them. Just say you were in a very tough time in your life and your grades took the bitter end of it. But then go into what you have learned from that experience and how you are trying to make up for those difficult times you had. Basically just make it into a positive and really let them know the new person you are.
