I did an internship in the summer of 2016 with a professor at Rutgers with a focus on botany/biology. However, I want to major in finance. So, it might seem like I did the Internship despite a lack of interest in science. I’m hesitant to include the internship in my apps because I don’t want to seem like I did the internship to put it on my app, but at the same time, I do know that internships w professors do look very good on apps. I don’t even know how to go about my application anymore, everything seems so calculated but the decisions seem so arbitrary sometimes. Please help. I would appreciate it so much!
Sure, it shows you were productive with your time and have a variety of interests. Not everything you do has to be targeted to your expected major.
Definitely put in on your app. Adcoms don’t expect that all your ECs relate to your intended major (an intention which many students change by graduation anyways!).
