Internship w/ California State Assemblywoman worth it?

Hello,

I recently applied for a few internships through some website called internship dot com. I thought the website was a little bit of a waste of time since a lot of the posts were outdated (last year's) but I did get a chance to take the time to fill out a few short applications and apply to a few of them.

One of them was an internship with an Assemblywoman for Sharon Quirk-Silva who focuses on the cities Fullerton, Buena Park, Cypress, West Anaheim, La Palma, and Stanton in California. I did do little research on what exactly Assembly representatives do but I still have trouble figuring out what EXACTLY it is they do on a DAILY basis....Anyways... I did receive an interview offer from them and considering the distance it is from my house and my lack of experience in knowing what a truly 'good' internship is...I don't know if this is something I should even be taking seriously and interviewing for.

For reference my major is Political Science, and I am looking into pursuing that with a focus on either Political Theory or International Relations. I am NOT looking to run for any type of higher office or anything of that sort in the future. I am looking into getting into either the education field (secondary teacher, professor) or if possible, a foreign relations officer.

I know it sounds weird to make a big deal out of it but I want to know if it is worth my time as I am literally working 'full time' between classes and am completely booked. I am willing to make room, as are others, for internships that are valuable.
I do understand the priority of needing to have some sort of strong internship experience behind you when exceptional universities like UCLA and UCB are looking at your application. I've heard people intern for Senators and presidential campaigns....big stuff like that. I want to know if it is worth my time, energy, money (I could be working instead), and study time to consider an internship like this.
Is it worth it?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
