Internship with State Rep. to US congress?

How helpful would this be in the admissions process. I think it would be a lot of fun but it would also take up a lot of time and I would probably need to drop some of my other ECs to accomodate (Id be dropiing things I also love doing). what would you reccomend?

Are you talking about a State Representative or a US Representative? Either is impressive.

US representative

A lot of EC's = good
An internship with a US Rep = good

Which would you enjoy more? Which do you think you could get more out of? Let those questions guide your decisions and you will make the right choice admissions-wise as well because they will see that you went for activities that you enjoyed and learned from.

I think I really would enjoy the internship a lot, because thats the career path I want to end up in some day. Also, the rep im interning for is a great, friendly person and he is really eager to work with me. However, many of my other ECs are things I do with friends and I had a blast doing them for the past 2 years (im talking about things like JSA and Lit Magazine staff and pit orchestra). I wish I could do everything, but realistically, I just don't see it happening. Im also one of those people that doesnt like to have a whole lot of fluff on my resume so whatever i do, i want to be able to give it my best, and make it a quality activity. If I cant give 100% of the time and energy to something, I dont want to do it.

pffft. Im just so torn right now.

bump. any more opinions?

Do the internship, IMO. If that's your intended career path, you'll get a taste of it and see if you really want to continue down that path.

If you're only doing the internship to pad your resume, stick with the things you love. If you're really serious about doing the internship and getting an amazing experience, then go for it.

5ky - no, it wouldnt be a padding. i think i would actually have a lot of fun doing the internship. Im just worried about the time commitment

another option i just got was doing just a summer internship. Ill be away at JSA summer school for june and july, but ill be home in august. I could just do the internship for a month (though I wont really get as much out of it). This way I can keep all my school year ECs in tact. what do you guys think?
