I was sitting in my chem 14a class and there was an announcement about an internship down at the Ronald Reagan med center. Does anyone know where I go for that and what time it is?

Note, it says that the internship requires 15 hours per week and a six to nine month commitment.

^Nope, it isn’t that one. OP is talking about the Care Extenders Internship Program at UCLA Hospital. I’m in it, and we’ve been going around to classes and making announcements. I don’t think there’s any more info sessions left though.

Anyways, this volunteering program looks good on paper, but I hate the position. We literally spend 95% of the time answering phones/doing other clerical stuff, and only 5% of the time getting real clinical experience (talking to patients and helping them out). I’d try to look for other volunteering programs first if you want clinical experience.

I was talking about the Care Extenders program. I actually went to one of the meetings and applied. And theespsys69, alot of people have been giving the program some negative reviews. I guess I wont be disappointed if I dont get in

Both my roommates last year were Care Extenders and hated it.

Yea, most people hate the program. And the people that say they don’t hate it are just saying that because they are on the recruiting committee, and its their job to say its an awesome program so that they can get a good letter of rec from the coordinator.

IMO, if you get accepted, then it might be a good intro for clinical experience (if you have none) and it could be a good way to work your way up to better clinical opportunities. Even though the program commitment is 1 year, I’d just do it for like 6-9 months and then drop it.
