Hey guys I was wondering whether or not its feasible to get an internship as an ibanker during the summer of your sophomore year, or do they have a limit on age for internships?

you can get a regular ibanking internship as a sophomore if:
--you made good friends with a top MD at the firm
--you are a TOTAL rockstar, im talkin 3.8+ gpa from a top 10 school, ridiculous prior work experience, stellar extracurriculars, something that REALLY sets you apart from everyone else.

besides this, there are sophomore rotational programs available at most of the big banks. I know lehman, jpmorgan, and goldman have strong rotational programs. again, you usually must have really strong credentials to get this, you cant just slip in with 3.5 from a top 20 school and minimal work experience.

if that doesnt work out, look into middle market banks. cold call and send your resume out to every middle market bank you can, there's tons of them. personally, i had an opportunity to do a middle-market banking internship, but it was a really informal internship with no modeling potential so i chose an equity research job at a more well known company instead.

additionally, private wealth management internships at a bulge bracket firm is pretty common for a sophomore, and it is a great opportunity to network within the firm and get to know people in IB.

hope that helps.
