I'm an international student from India and I'm hoping to double major in Physics and engineering(with concentration on computer eng) at Trinity College,Connecticut this fall. I want to do an internship at MIT. Which is the best time and how do I apply for internships at MIT?

If you are starting this fall then that means you are going to be a freshmen. Most internships/summer research programs only accept sophomores and juniors, and very few accept internationals.

Check out the MIT Summer Research Program, [MIT Summer Research Program | Office of the Dean for Graduate Education](http://odge.mit.edu/undergraduate/msrp/), they have summer research opportunities for pretty much all STEM fields and they accept international students (very few, <10% of the accepted students).

Last summer I was part of the MSRP-Biology program, so if you’d like to know more about the program and MIT during the summer feel free to ask. Also, like you, I am an international student.

Best of luck.

I can’t send private messages yet, so here it goes.

You will need to have a very good GPA, even higher than the one the program recommends, and great letters of recommendation. Something else that might help you get in is research experience. As soon as you can get involved with a research group and work hard with them, this will give you some research experience and a letter of recommendation from your PI.

The program is very competitive to get into, you need to be on top of your game.

Best of luck! Let me know if you have more questions.
