Well, acknowledging that Muhl isn’t a BFA program, I am wondering what, if anything the school offers as possibilities that would be comparable to internships, or even a showcase, that many BFA programs do for their qualifying seniors. Anything along these lines available?

I am also reading about various study abroad programs Muhl offers, in particular theatre courses at Goldsmiths College, University of London…

Wondering if anyone has any comments or insight on the above?

KatiesDad - while there is no 'senior showcase', I'm sure you're aware of the school's summer stock program. My daughter did it last summer, and will seriously consider it again this summer. If kids don't get cast, there are plenty of other opportunities for paying positions for the shows. Some are considered internships.

Regarding the study abroad program, hopefully several months from now I should have more to tell you. My D will be doing either Goldsmith or Queen Mary next fall. She has been to the meetings, but is just waiting to consult with one of the professors before picking one. To be honest, she would be happy at either one, but at this time, may be leaning toward Queen Mary because the East London Line of the Tube system is closed for major renovations, and that would impact her ability to get around London if she chose Goldsmith.

D1 studied in London for a semester a year and a half ago, and absolutely loved it. She had a pretty sweet deal through her school, lived in an awesome area and was able to travel quite a bit on long weekends for relatively cheap. D2 visited her there over her spring break, and so she kind of knows London a little bit now, and absolutely LOVES it, so I think she'll be happy wherever she ends up.

Yes, am aware of the summer stock program. But that is open to the general public as far as auditions go, correct? Still, sounds like some great opportunites there.

re: Study abroad.. I guess I missed the "queen Mary" program, will have to go back to their website and serach for that.. Is that one theatre specific as well?

My sister and her husband live in London, so My daughter would love to be able to do a study abraod there.

Katiesdad - Just got off the phone with D2 and asked her if there were any updates on which program she was leaning toward. Her interpretation (after attending another meeting this week) was that the Goldsmith program has an outstanding music department, but in the Queen Mary program, you get to take more classes with the British students... which led me to wonder who you're taking classes with at Goldsmith. But if Goldsmith is more music intensive, perhaps you have more studio classes, as opposed to academic classes where you'd be in larger lecture type settings.
