Internships for a kid?

Do you think that there are any possible internships for someone who is only 15? I live in Fairfax, VA and I was thinking about getting an internship sometime this year or the coming summer. I won't even mind if it isn't paid. Any ideas?

dude, you are 15. The only think I could think of is Jersey Specific, where JP Morgan Chase does some high school thing, but really, anything in HS will probably be disregarded. Aren’t you a sophomore? Dude, enjoy your summer! If you are really desperate to learn stuff, just follow current events, understand the jargon used, read some testimonials, and try to get ANY part time job and perform well in it.

You may be able to get something, but we need to know more about you.

Start with your interests. What school subjects do you like? Do you have experiences in clubs or with hobbies? If you didn’t need to be in school during the year, what would you do with your time?

Now try to translate these interests into possible jobs and/or organizations that work in these areas.

Ask your teachers, counselor, family, neighbors, and friends if they know someone who works in one of these places. Ask for an introduction.

Introduce yourself and say you’d like to learn more about (x) and would like to become an unpaid intern. Then do a good job at whatever they ask, even if it’s sorting mail and making coffee. Learn as much as you can. Do more than they expect. When you leave, ask if your boss will recommend you for a future job or even for college.

Good luck!
