Internships for Computer Science Majors (HSSEAS) [CSE,CS,EE]

How are they looking for these majors? Any big time names such as google offering 40/hour?
How many are offered, how many people take these?

Thanks

I am a first year CSE, and I have a friend who managed to get an internship with Google and Facebook last year. Granted, he is super naturally brilliant and had a 4.0 GPA, but it’s possible.

Star Wars fan?
How difficult is that 4.0, isn’t that pretty damn near impossible?
What’s the difference between cse and cs, and why the disparity in salary?
Lol sorry thanks in advance!

Yeah I love Star Wars haha. Yeah it’s pretty damn near impossible. Anything above a 3.5 is good. I unfortunately had a really crappy 1st quarter, so I have to build up from there. CSE requires several EE lower and upper division courses that you don’t have to take as a CS major. CS has these things called Sci-Tech electives where you can another field you want to take classes in like Econ, another Engineering, math, bioinformatics, etc. Both have tech breadths which are 3 classes not in your major so you can be a well-rounded engineer. About the salary, I’m not sure, maybe pure CS majors are more in demand but you take about 75% of your classes in CS as a CSE major. I personally want to go into robotics so I feel that an EE background might help. I’m only a freshman so I’m probably not the best source of info so try to ask upperclassmen who know a lot more than me. Best of luck!

haha great!!! i look forward to meeting you (got engineering likely for CSE)
honestly i’ve been hit with (junior)?itis and have just been watching starwars from 12 - 3am

Yeah dude you’re set. Unless you get into like Berkeley or Stanford or any other top Engineering school, UCLA’s program is more than solid for Engineering and definitely worth the in-state tuition.

^_^ will you be at engineering day?

I unfortunately am not going to be at Engineering Day because I had other plans. However, you will meet a ton of amazing Engineers who know a lot more information than I do that can help you out immensely. Feel free to ask me any questions you have on FB. PM me your name and I’ll friend request you. Good luck!
