I'm currently a junior in high school, and was offered an unpaid internship to a local newspaper (Connection Newspapers), for one month over the summer. I am interested in journalism, but unsure whether I should divert my time in other endeavors? Will this look good on the resume, or is it useless?

As a father, I'd advise that you take advantage of this opportunity, if, as you say, it represents a potential interest to you. My hats off to you for actually thinking this way. One month is not that long in the grand scheme, & these types of experiences can be eye-opening. Its almost more important to rule out through experience what you don't want to do. Don't even worry about how this will look on your resume, just follow your heart.

Will this look good on the resume, or is it useless?

better knock that thought out starting right about...now.

And yes, that internship sounds fun! I'm a journalism-type person myself, and have interned at our local paper every year. It's a whole lot of fun, you get to meet new people, it's just great. IMO, beats an old science class over the summer or something ANY DAY. :)

don't do stuff because it looks good on your resume. do stuff because it's fun. :P

i interned at a law office last summer. it was a great experience, and i came out of it really looking forward to law school in a few years.

plus, if you're concerned about your resume it does look very good.
