Internships that don't require a 3.0 GPA?

It seems that every summer internship I apply to requires a 3.0 GPA or only really calls back people with at least that. I have a 2.8 right now and I'm feeling hopeless for a job opportunity this summer as a sophomore Mechanical Engineer from a top 5 engineering school. I am trying to keep my options open for pretty much working anywhere and in any industry just for experience at the moment, but obviously putting more focus where I'm interested, but haven't gotten any feedback from any employers at all. I've tweaked my r

The big business literally just have someone go through a pile resumes looking at GPA’s first and cut out the lower ranked students. It looks like you are going to have to sell yourself. Is your Major GPA higher? Start looking at smaller companies. Any and everything, because once you get experience you will be a lot more marketable.

I know a kid who had a ~2.5 GPA because he was too involved in his frat partying and what he did was not put his GPA on his r

My non-major GPA is higher, ironically, because I’m doing an easy minor that I’m interested in. I feel like if I look everywhere employers will think I’m just desperate for a job obviously because of my GPA. I put 2.9 on my GPA since currently it rounds out to that but yeah I don’t know where to look, and I don’t really have any connections or anything.

Your best option is probably to just not put it. Go to the carer fairs, start talking to people, talk about interesting stuff you’ve done and whatnot and see where it takes you.

Also, a larger firm will typically be more likely to have strict GPA cut-offs than a smaller firm. Try using that for guidance.
