Hello,
I am a sophomore at a LAC. I have been trying to apply for summer internships, but most employers will not even accept my application because I am not authorised to work in the US. It would be really nice if anyone here could give me advice on what I should do, and what type of internship opportunities are available for international students. I am a computer science and economics double major, and I am looking for tech or finance internships.
There are OPT (someone else can confirm, but I think it’s optional practical training ) allowances in STEM fielDS for F1 visa holders. Your school will have to fill out its part. Don’t know if they are for use over summer or just after you graduate and if they are just for graduate students. Your school should have someone, probably the same person who works with international students on visa issues, who can advise you. But that’s the one that is intended for what you want to do if it’s in tech. I know there are a couple of folks on these boards who work in the legal field and can definitely advise you better, but this should be a start.
