I am going to be a Junior this year and am looking for summer internship programs. I am especially interested in one that will look good to top-tier law schools. I know that they do not look for law internships specifically so I am also interested in internships dealing with non-profits, international justice, international development or general business. Are there any suggestions?
Summer already or is about to end. My best suggestion: research it later in the school year.
This isn’t quite an internship, but try to take the Stanford summer school. They offer a law course. It’s really detailed and intensive but you learn a lot from this course. I’m pretty sure it includes some or all the options that you’ve listed. Going to this summer school impresses and raises a lot of eyebrows to colleges. The problem about this summer school is that it’s a bit pricey since it’s in Silicon Valley and that Stanford is a well-known, one of the top private school.
Figure out how you’ll use your JD degree (which should be tied to one of your passions in life), and find an internship consistent with that. International internships are easy to get–I worked in a nonprofit abroad. As long as you speak the local language, just send out resumes.
Some internships for next summer 2018 are already being advertised. Just go to indeed or some other online job board and type in “summer internship 2018” and the listings will pop up. Do not type in a location, and it will pull up listings from all over the country.
